The castle of Fosdinovo, known since XI century, has been for almost one thousand year the residence of Malaspina marquis. The actual look is due to Spinetta I Malaspina “the Great”, an important XIV century margrave who managed to conquer the best part of the region “Lunigiana” and chose Fosdinovo as official residence. Actually the castle is the private dwelling place of the heirs Torrigiani-Malaspina, open to visits all the year.
